The Spanish International Driving Permit costs €10.51: DGT fee 4.5 for 2026, the only amount the traffic authority charges. You pay by card, never in cash, on the online form or at the Jefatura. If you prefer not to do the paperwork, our service costs €49 if you collect the permit or €69 delivered to your home, fee included.

The DGT charges a single fee: fee 4.5, €10.51 in 2026. There is no separate issuing cost, nothing extra for the booklet and no charge for collecting it. The amount has moved little: €10.40 for several years, €10.30 in 2019, €10.51 now. It is identical at every Jefatura and Oficina de Tráfico in Spain.
Always by card; the DGT does not take cash for this fee.
The fee is small; the real cost is time. Applying yourself means a digital certificate, electronic DNI or Cl@ve (or an appointment), a 32 × 26 mm colour photograph from a shop or booth, and a trip to the Jefatura two days after applying online to collect it with your ID and photo. The DGT never posts it. None of these are DGT charges, but they add up, especially if your Jefatura is far away or you have no Cl@ve yet.
Two options, fee included in both (choose below): €49 if you collect the permit at the Jefatura you choose, normally two working days after we submit, no appointment; €69 if it is delivered to your home by certified post, printed and sent by a chartered administrative agency (gestoría colegiada) with a DGT agreement, with the delivery time confirmed when you order, depending on your province. We do not sell a "24-hour" option because no official express procedure exists. Depending on the option you choose, the application is handled by our team or by a chartered gestoría with an agreement with the DGT. We are not the DGT and have no connection with it.
Several websites sell an "International Driving Permit" or "International Driver's Document" as a PDF or plastic card for 35 to 150 dollars. No authority issues those documents. In Spain only the DGT can issue the IDP, a grey booklet collected in person after paying €10.51. Police and rental companies reject the online versions; read fake international driving permits sold online.
In the EU/EEA and the 30 countries with a bilateral agreement with Spain your licence is enough, so you can save the fee (Japan excepted). Anywhere else the IDP is required by law or demanded in practice, and €10.51 is nothing next to a refused rental or a fine abroad. It is valid one year, so one fee covers all your trips in that period.
